Louis la Vache
avec une vache photographed by friends visiting from
Californie in front Louis's favorite store, "Vache and Cow," on
rue de la Ferronnerie near
Forum des Halles and
la Louvre. It's difficult to tell which one is Louis and which one is the fiberglass
vache. The both seem a little stiff. Relax, Louis!
Louis assures us that this is NOT the
vache normande he
adopted.
Historical footnote: In 1610 it was on
rue de la Ferronnerie very near the store pictured above that King Henri IV's carriage became stuck in a Paris traffic jam (yes, they had traffic jams then, too!) and an assassin jumped into the carriage and stabbed the king. Aside from the obvious tragedy of the murder, this assassination was bad for France because Henri IV had been a good king. Aided by his equally good minister Sully, Henri IV did much to modernise France.
