Paris doorways: Île-Saint-Louis

Île-Saint-Louis, that charming small island in la Seine behind Île-de-la-Cité (home to Nôtre Dame and la Sainte-Chapelle), is just one of many places in Paris where one can find colorful, intriquing doorways. Combine the doorways with the historic plaques by the doorways on the island, and your mind's eye is treated to a sweeping panorama of Paris history. The dark green doorway in the first picture on the left is the building where the Syndicate for Master Bakers for Paris, the Hauts-de- Seine, the Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne regions was founded in 1801 and quartered in this building since 1843. The building was built in 1642. It is on quai de Bourbon facing la rive droit, the right bank, of la Seine
